And we care why?

And my random thought. Or my first "editorial". Which ever one you prefer...it doesn't matter.

Anywhose, for a week now we have been hearing stories on the news about Tiger Woods crashing in to a fire hydrant outside his home. Now once the news found out he had minor injures and alcohol wasn't apart of it the subject should have been dropped. But nooooooo the media just had to find out the why. He asked that it be left alone, but the media continued. Now we find out he cheated. My thoughts are...do we really give a shit?

No, really? Granted he is a celebrity and his life is an open book...but why is that? Why do we really give a shit about what he does behind close doors? So he cheated on his wife? That should be a matter between the two of them. We wouldn't want our lives out there unless we put it out there ourselves. The man is a celebrity, but he is also human. Or did we forget this?

Thanksgiving and Family

I am posting late because by the time we got back to the hotel room I was extremly tired. Barely keep my eyes open.

However, it was a good day. House filled with everyone laughing and enjoying themselves. The food was great too. There was roast, ham, turkey, black eyed peas, stuffing, macaroni & cheese, greens, sweet potato, potato salad, and cakes. Oh yeah. Can't forget ma dea's gumbo.

I spent some time calling friends, and family. I wished in a way that my family was as still as close. Miss them and my mom at times like these. But I am thankful and blessed to be apart of all this. It's what the holiday's are all about.

With all that was going on and my cell needing to be charged I didn't get the chance to take picture. Hopefully I will get some today.

We have made it to ATL

Well, we finally made it to ATL around 12:37am. The ride wasn't as long as it seemed last time. Then again that was 4 years ago.

Anyhow, I must say that even tho our room isn't huge it is very nice. From the lobby to our room I can't complain. We got a separate sitting area with a sink and mini-frig. Coffee cup are real too. The 42" flat screen TV is HD and the picture is clear. Not fancy, but I have no problem pay the price we have paid.

Well, it's now 225am. Way past bd time. I thought I would show off our hotel photos. These sre just a few. Will add the rest in the morning.

ATL BOUND!!!

We have officially been on the road to Atlanta, GA. After a busy and complicated day of work, running around, and waiting for my niece we are finally on our way. To be honest I never thought this moment would come.

The boys are doing well I might say, but then again they are use to road trips. Robert was at awe about the signs and stars he saw, then he's knocked out. Ernest is sleepy, but he's too hyped up about the rock music in the car. He was singing the theme song to the first Transformers movie when we first got on the road. Then he started dancing to Queen. You know the one from "Wayne's World". Well he get's it honestly.

Still got another 4 (or 5) hours to go. Don't know how some do all this driving in one night just to hit clubs and back. Too much!

Tomorrow We Are ATL Bound!

It's 10:30 at night and just finished washing cloths, packing, get outfits out for tomorrow, and getting the boys in bed. I still haven't eaten yet. I am so sleepy and tired I could fall out now.
However, there is a bright side to this. After all the planning, rushing around, and finalizing things we will be headed to ATL for Thanksgiving. Go food, laughing with family we haven't since for sometime, and most of all FOOTBALL!!!!!

I can't wait! I wish my sister, nieces, and my oldest son could join us. Makes me sad about that, but Christmas will be here before we know it so they can be with us for that. In the meantime, we I will be thankful for my family no matter where they may be. I love everyone of them and blessed to have them in my life.

We my Thanksgiving has begun. Stay tuned for more...and pics.

Our Great Dinner at Arby’s

For those who don't know, my hubby works as the General Manager for Arby's. Well, one of the things he loves to do for his crew is to have holiday dinners. A time for everyone to relax and have a good time during the holidays. Yesterday was the Thanksgiving day dinner and everyone had a great time. The children way more than the adults, but it was nice. Great food and lots of laughs. It was the first time I met his new crew so that was an added bonus to things. Everything was absolutely delicious and homemade. This crew really took this dinner seriously and it was very special.

The best entertainment of the dinner was watching the children run around the store in circles. They had no toys and no other activities, but this seemed to them to be the best thing ever. I am excited to see if he will plan one again for Christmas. If so, I am posting that one too.

A Proud 49ers Fan!

Today was our quarterly meeting, which we call T-Town, at work. Every T-Town is a particular theme. We had to wear either a company t-shirt or our favorite team shirt. Well, being the big 49ers fan that I am had someone take a picture of me in my glorious #21 Frank Gore jersey. By the way...I wasn't the only one at work with the exact same jersey. Now off to finish watching my boys play against the Chicago Bears. GO NINERS!!

Next Day of Tropical Storm Ida

Well, as I thought it really was nothing. Tropical Storm Ida lost it's power the closer it got to land. The eye is in Mobile Bay right now. Nothing a little rain and wind. Some areas are flooded but not where we live, so it's good. Time to finish getting dressed and off to work as usual.

Tropical Storm Ida...

Until now the hurricane season has been pretty quiet. Normally we have to keep an eye on the news and if even mentions something in in the Gulf everyone is in panic. Well, that hasn't been the case all season. At least until now.
To be honest I wasn't thinking that things would be like this, but the winds are blowing very hard and raining this bad. It's tolerable, but not what I expected. They had schools close early today and they will be closed until Thursday since Wednesday is Veteran's Day.

For most tomorrow is business as usual unless it's end up being worse or you live near a flooded area. We are good, so family you don't need to worry at all. We got food and huge generator if necessary. Later, I might take a video for you to see what our tropical storms are like. At least this isn't like Katrina. We are blessed for that.

An evening with my boys...

This evening I was blessed with having all three of boys at home for a moment. If your a friend or casual visitor to my family blog, you might not know that I have three children - Cordell (21 years old), Ernest (4 years old), and Robert (2 years old). With that in mind you see there is a huge gap been my youngest two and my oldest. Cordell doesn't live at home, so I don't see him that often. Tonight meant a lot because I haven't heard from in awhile and he doesn't get the chance to spend a lot of time with his brothers.

Anyhow, he came over and spent most of his time teasing and playing with his brothers. Ernest was excited to see him and really upset when he had to go. Robert is really not one to care either way right now, but he did enjoy climbing all over him. It was really nice to have them together for a little while and see that he doing ok. I took a few pictures for the occasion.

Trials of Being a Mother

I love being a mom. The anticipation you feel when your awaiting their arrival. The joy you feel once they are finally here. Seeing that first real smile, their first tooth, thier first crawl, first step. Everyday they say or do something new that makes you proud to be blessed in having them. You cannot imagine your life without them.

Then there are those days and times when you just want to scream and runaway They drive you nuts and make you want to pull your hair out. Somedays you envy those without kids or try to imagine the life you had before they came along.

Little Ernest is Sick

My little man is sick. This actually a very rare thing for him. Robert usually gets sick everytime daddy gets sick, but Ernest and I are usually the healthy ones. And I am not talking about a cold. Saturday and Sunday he ran a fever. I thought he was ok today. Not! I wasn't at work a full hour before Jr called to tell me he had to pick up Ernest from school. So I had to move working in my little cubicle to working at home.

Jr had to take him to the doctor because he threw up...a lot. He seemed fine up until that point. The good thing is that the doctor said it was just a stomach virus. Not the flu and he didn't have a fever although his body was burning hot. They gave him a shot to help the virus. It made him sleep a long time, but he had nightmares for hours. Waking up yelling for his daddy which is also very rare. Had us worried again, but he is ok.

Tomorrow I will be working from home again taking care of him and chasing Robert around. Not fun at al, but my babies health is more important.

Ernest’s First Pumpkin

I thought I would take a moment out to share with everyone Ernest's first decorated pumpkin. He did it at school yesterday. Sorry if the photos aren't so great. It's the lighting. Plus I am not always that great at pictures, but I am getting better with my trusty cellphone. Anyhow, I think my little man has creative talent.

Ernest's First Day at HeadStart

The day started early for us. I woke up around 5:30am, but officially it was 6:15am. Started ironing the boys shirts when Ernest woke up at 6:30am. Believe me this is early for him. Usually he doesn't like waking up before 8am. Anytime before that he tends to be very grumpy and whiny. What was so adorable this morning was that he woke smiling and in a very good mood for 6:30am. Got dressed without complaining and was ready to wake up everyone in the house.

He couldn't stop asking me questions about what was going to happen in school. He wanted to know what his teacher's name will be, will he be taking a nap, will he have breakfast and lunch, are they going to play games, and (the question I couldn't help but laugh at) will they have bread. See Ernest loves to eat bread, but it has to be plain bread. No jelly, peanut butter, etc. Just plain white bread. So, I found his thinking of their having bread very funny...and of course adorable. We even let him wear his Spiderman shirt for his first day, which he was even more happy about.

I feel a little sad because I wasn't able to go to school with him. Because I have to be at work at 8am and Ernest needed to feel out paperwork before he went to class it was better for me to be dropped off first. I really wanted to take pictures of his class and his new school. Ernest called me several times over all the repetitive paperwork he had to fill out, which I totally understood. I was told that his new teacher said that Little Ernest walked in the classroom like he had been there before. That brought a little tear to my eyes.

After work we went to pick him up and heard him sing the alphabet song about 8 times before reaching home. I admit, however, he did very well in singing the song. I think he missed about only 4 letters. He messed up once, realized it and started all over again. I heard how he took a nap, ate breakfast, built a tower with blocks, and played some game called "Pass the Pumpkin". He didn't mention his teacher, but I could tell he is very happy where he is at. That is always a good thing.

Well, anyhow...here are a few pictures of my baby as we walked to the car to start our day. As you can tell he made sure he had his bread before we left the house. Told you he loves plain bread. LOL.

Little Ernest Goes to School Tomorrow!

Today was a very rough day at work, but it was all in a hard good day's work. The best part about the day was that we finally got a call from Headstart. Little Ernest gets to start school tomorrow. We have been waiting for nearly two months for that call and Ernest has been driving us nuts about when he was going to start.

We didn't get the reaction from him that we expected. As much he has talked about it, we thought he would at least scream or something more than a smirk. He just gave his adorable grin and asked all kinds of questions. He even asked if they will have bread. This child can almost eat an entire loaf of bread absolutely plain. He just loves it.

Anyhow, he has to be there not earlier than 8:45 am and he has to be picked up no later than 2 pm. Because we have to work and my mother-in-law isn't feeling well we have some picking him up tomorrow and Friday. My only things is having to adjust to the getting up earlier in the morning. Not great when it comes to mornings.

Well, either way I will try to take pictures of my baby and his first day at HeadStart, then post them for everyone to see. Don't expect nothing photo special though. It's only HeadStart.

My Little Men are Growing Up...Happy 4th Birthday Ernest!!!

I have been so busy these days that I tend to forget that I have this blog. However, I made it priority to post today. You see today Little Ernest turned 4 years old. I look at all my boys and can't believe how fast time goes by. I find myself looking at their baby pictures and looking at them now wondering where all the time went. Ernest is counting, drawing, trying to read, and enjoying playtime as Spiderman. Robert is now talking, dancing, just enjoying life. Makes me sad sometimes that there will be no more now, but happy because these two little guys give me plenty of activity every day.

Happy Father's Day to My Remarkable Man!

glitter graphics
Thursday I was listening The Michael Baisden Show. It was the last hour of the show and he had ladies calling in to give praise to their men for being great fathers. Listening got me to think about mine. Father’s Day is today. My physical gift of movie and dinner will come late, but I can’t help but to think of some of the many things about him and this special to me.
We have been together 11 years. Like every relationship we have had our ups and downs. Our trials and tribulations. However, through it all he has been a remarkable man and he's a remarkable father. He and my oldest didn't always get along, but I can never take away the fact that he always provided for him. Can't take away the fact that he's tried his best to help me raise another man's child which is never an easy task.

My "Bible in 90 Days" Challenge Intro

I will be honest and say that I have not been the Christian I should be. Like most I get caught up in the daily routines of work and family. Forget to wake up each day and thank the Lord. Avoid making time to read the Lord's glorious words. I make stupid excuses to avoid attending Sunday school and church. I have made more of an effort over the past couple of months, but not enough.

My Activity Update

I haven't posted here for a few weeks because I have been extremely busy. It seems as if I suddenly became overwhelmed with everything at once. There have been a few bad (well unproductive) days a work, but I have had many wonderful experiences with my family.

On May 31st we attended the 1st Annual Pentecost Explosion” worship and praise celebration in Birmingham, AL at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex. It was the first time I have been to Birmingham in all the 11 years living here in Alabama. Normally, we don't attend these types of church gatherings, but Ernest was apart of the 1000 voice choir along with his mother and sister. At first I thought it would be a very boreing preaching type celebration. You know the type where you listened to several preachers discuss the word almost repeatedly. However, I was proven wrong. From the moment they ended the annoucements (which took about a good 15 minutes) there was singing, dancing, praising, and excitement. There was absolutely no way you could be there and not feel joy. Not feel blessed. The music was simply wonderful and the choir sounded beautiful. The guest artist was Kathy Taylor. She is a national gospel recording artist, songwriter, producer, and community activist. Her voice is truly a blessing from God. The guest preacher was Reverand William D. Watley, Ph.D. He is the Senior Pastor of the St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church in Newark, NJ. He delivered a wonderful message. It was all truly a wonderful experience and we will no doubt be going back every year. I will also try to share the video with you once I get a copy of it. Hopefully it would move you as much as it did us.

Updated Vacation Photos

I just finished updating all of our vacation photos/videos if anyone is interested in viewing them. They can all be seen at http://picasaweb.google.com/kassia.holmes.

We have made it home...

Well, after 22 hours and some minutes we have finally made it back to Mobile, AL safely. We have been truly blessed. Although I did not get to do all the things I wanted to do, this has been the best vacation I have had in years. Part of me is ready to begin my day at work again tomorrow and the other part wishes I had one more day. But it's great. No complaints. My boys seem to be excited now that we are back home. Playing together in familiar surroundings.

On the road again...

Well, it now time for us the head back home. I have had a great vacation.

Before leaving this morning we had to stop at several Mexican restaurants to get some food to bring back with us. Hate to say it, but Mexican food in Mobile cannot compete with food in the West. This is food that has you craving. Mouthwatering food. Have to take it back with us.

Today was a good day!

Words cannot express how good of a day this was. I was wanting to take my babies to the Denver Zoo but the weather was a tad too chilly for us to have them walking around. So, we decided to visit family instead.

My what energy they have!

We not to long ago got back to our room. Our first family outing was at the Children's Museum. Not what I expected, but the seemed to have a great time. So much that they tired me out.

The Strip is amazing...

Last night was great. We finally had the chance to do some sight-seeing along the Las Vegas strip. The food smells awesome, the light are amazing, and the casinos are huge. All we did was walk around and we didn't get to all of the great things they have. The strip is very long and you will need more than a day to really enjoy it.

Big Texan Steak Ranch - April 2009

The Las Vegas Strip??!!!

Ernest and I didn't have an exciting evening, but we did get the chance to finally see the Las Vegas Strip. Well, we drove threw it actually. We got the boys in bed by about 10pm, then drove to see where our niece works. We stayed there for a good hour I think then headed down to the strip, but by then it was about after 12am and we were both tired. So tonight we decided to have date night. We are going to spend time sight seeing with the boys today and then go out to the strip around dusk. It's not often me and Ernest get quality time together so we are going to take advantage of it.

Not bad so far for day one...

So far we haven't done a whole lot. Most because it takes some adjustment to the difference in altitude. However, we got out a little late and had breakfast at Denny's. Then just an hour ago we returned from the Santa Fe Casino where we had a very good buffet and let the children bowl. The bowling part alone was an adventure and exciting. Robert was so excited and wanted to be "one with the pins" that he kept trying to run down the bowling lanes. Well, I think it was the third set where I was holding him, but some how he broke loose and ran fast down the lane next to us. This child in sandals did not slip or try to slip. Me in my tennis shoes went after him barely getting to him fell on my butt. Those darn lanes are slippery!!!! Needless to say that it was scary and funny at the same time. Too bad I didn't get the chance to have someone tape it. You guys would have gotten a kick out of that scene. LOL!!!

Saturday, April 25, 2009

Well...We finally made it!

We have been in Las Vegas for about a little over two hours now. Spending time with the family, watch a little basketball (which I am not into really) and catching up on the NFL Draft (which I am fanatic about). The weather is nice here. A slight breeze, but nothing to take away from the heat too much. I will be giving myself and my boys a bath soon. You know after a long ride you need it. Then I suppose later on we are heading somewhere to listen to some jazz music.

TV doesn't come close!

OH MY GOODNESS! We just came through the Hoover Dam. Nothing you have ever seen in movies, TV, our print can come close to the AWESOME wonder we just saw. Car bumper to bumper, red rocks everywhere, structures that take your breath away.

I have never seen the color of mountains change in such perfect levels. They are building a new bridge too that is so high up I am amazed they have it at the point it's at.

110 miles to go...

Well, I pleased to finally post that we have just a little over an hour to go on our journey. Despite the detour, traffic, overnight stay, and what not this has been a beautiful trip so far.

Ernest has been in his slight winney moods, but for the most part my boys have been on their best behavior. I am very proud of them.

On the Road Again...

OK! It is now 6:06am MST and we are back on the road Vegas bound. Ernest got enough sleep to make the next 6 or so hours. The boys are back to enjoying Ben 10.

I am really looking forward to jazz concert our niece is taking us to. She has to do a little work and we are going along for the fun. I enjoy Jazz so this should be fun.

Yet another delay...

After the Dallas confusion, stopping to eat, and then running into traffic issues we realized that we would not be in Las Vegas until 2 or 3 am and that is just too much for Ernest. I offered to drive, but he likes to do the driving himself. So with that in mind we decided to call the night and get a room. We got a room at the Holiday Inn Express in Grant, NM. We probably won't be in Las Vegas until about 12 or 1 in the afternoon. Oh, well. Things happen.

I have a lot of pictures to show of to everyone. Thought about adding them tonight, but I am very sleepy and need to get up before dawn. So, I will be posting them tomorrow once we get to Vegas.

Delayed Blog Post

** Note: I tried to post this blog from my phone around 3:12pm, but my business email account wasn't allowing me to do so. I have to find out what is wrong with my web host. Anyhow, here it goes...**

We just came from Amarillo, TX and had a good meal. We stopped in "The Big Texan Steak Ranch" - Home of the 72oz. Steak. You get 60 minutes to eat the steak (which is actually butterflied), a salad, shrimp, vegetables, and a roll.

Ernest had the 32 oz. Steak and I had the 12oz. Big Texan Ribeye. Let me just say everything was absolutely great. They have not only the best steak, but I never had cole slaw so good. Not too much salad dressing/mayonnaise and the best blend of spices. It was absolute heaven.

We are now on our way towards Albuquerque, NM with an estimate of 800 miles left. I think it's less, but not sure. The weather is actually very nice, but the wind is blowing extremely hard. Mobile doesn't get this windy unless we are in a hurricane.

Man! Dallas has a crazy system!

OK...we made it through the first hump. Got to Dallas by 4:30am. Robert has been sleep most of the time and Ernest watched a Ben 10 DVD that bought before I left as a surprise.

Anyhow, let me just say Dallas has a very...very...very confusing highway system. We did get off track for a little while. The GPS and Google Map application was trying to take us one way and we needed to go a different route. We are back on track now. Maybe an hour off at the most.

The weather here in Texas is a little windy and scattered sprinkles of rain. We saw a house that reminds Ernest of the TV show "Dallas". Right now there is nothing but farm properties.

Oh...btw...Satellite radio? Total addiction for road trips.

Las Vegas Here We Come!

Ok we got started about 2 hours late due to small things that needed to be taken care of before we left.

Anyhow, we are offically on the road. One thing for sure it truly is an adventure with a 3 year old and 20 month old. Already! LOL! We should arrive in Vegas by 9pm at the latest.

Today is the day...

Well, It is finally here. So far so good at work. Out of the three websites in my personal queue I closed one that has been there for a month and finished a preview I have been working on for month, too. Basically, that leaves me with worry free vacation. Now, if I can close a minimum of 8 websites by 6pm then I will be cool.

Anyhow, stay posted. I will keep everyone update on the trip. When I can I will post links to our slideshows as well. Pray for us!!

Vacation Countdown!

Well, tomorrow is the day. Me, hubby, and my two youngest will be heading towards Las Vegas then off to Denver. We had planned this trip about a month ago, but I didn't get excited about until last week. Mostly because things at work got pretty hectic. I didn't think I was ready for it really. I AM NOW! As soon as I get off we are out.

Never been to Las Vegas before so that is something I am looking forward to. My husband's niece lives in Vegas and she has been wanting us to visit for years. Dont' know what there is to do with two toddlers, but I hope we have a great time.

I plan to keep you posted about our adventures.
